Next up, located in the hidden paradise that is Getliffes Yard (just off Derby Street) is the fabulous vintage fashion brand,
Handmade by Holly Crow!!
Included is Sweetpea & Boo, a pet lovers paradise! (sadly this opened a few days after our visit)
One new resident whose work you will know if you follow Tenacious Bloom, is friend and customer
Laura Rhian Photography who shot our amazing vintage styled product photography last summer!
“I’ve always loved Leek and it's mix of quirky boutiques and vintage inspired shops and I’ve been very lucky to find the ideal location in Getliffe’s Yard.” -Holly Crow.
- The simple and understated design, and quality of finish of Holly's clothing. (I love fabric but I'm definitely not a seamstress ! I really admire people who are so skilled.)
- I LOVE that yellow card; I have one similar by Yumi
- The use of a simple string of beads! ( I have a massive collection of 'granny beads" Might do a post on Tenacious Bloom serving suggestions one day ?)
“The fairs & markets have been a great way to showcase my designs and to reach lots of new customers, but I have always dreamed of owning my own shop and Leek is the perfect new home for HollyCrow,”
‘Handmade By HollyCrow’ boasts an eclectic mix of bespoke designs and re-worked vintage items of clothing as well as an original line of home wares and soft furnishings.'
To work with a fantastic boss and mentor like Holly, herself a graduate of Derby University with a first class degree in fashion, must be inspiring both creatively and in terms of the real life business experience it brings.
“I love making bespoke orders and work closely with a client taking their ideas and creating something totally unique” explains Holly, “This has also included designing and making several bridal ranges for brides & bridesmaids who want something a little different for the big day.”
Holly now also stocks beautiful greetings cards by A Farmers Daughter, who are based in Staffordshire near Tenacious Bloom Studios.
One of my favourite vintage style dresses also features in our photoshoots and is a similar fabric to one of Holly's dresses. I love a polka dot!
Below is another example of Holly's fabulous hand-made dresses spotted at the final destination on my whistle-stop tour of Leek's fabulous independent shops, and a hint of where we are going next!
Next up: Post number two coming soon, featuring a fabulous independent haberdasher, workshop deliverer, gift emporium, previous Getliffes yard resident, and official Cath Kidston stockist!!
